Racing

For anyone who would like to begin to race - ‘time trialling’ is one of the most basic forms of racing.

Often referred to as ‘the race of truth’, it is simply man or woman against the clock. Most people start racing with an ‘evening 10’ at club level and whilst these are fiercely contested affairs on the bike, off the bike is a different story.

Events 2008

The first 10 Mile Time Trial of the 2008 thursday evening series took place on the 3rd April. A great turn out on a great evening. Results will be posted below over next few days!

Corinium CC 10 mile TT Course

The U48 has become the regular 10 mile course for the Corinium CC & Swindon RC open club events for the last couple of seasons. It's a good, and fairly safe course that can be enjoyed by riders of all abilities.

Most new riders will set themselves targets with regards to time for completing the course, usually 30mins, which equates to 20mph average (often referred to as ‘evens’). Once that first ride is out of the way they will have something to aim at and then the sky is the limit.

Don’t forget to shout your number & have a quick and safe ride

Contact Details

Allan Norwood (Corinium CC) - 01666 504075 (Home) or 07845 879060 (Mobile)

Chris Broad-Drake (Swindon RC) - 07855 406547 (Mobile)

Rules to remember are as follows..

1. You must be able to demonstrate current membership of an CTT affiliated club such as Corinium CC or Swindon RC.

2. Otherwise these are open events. Race entry fee is £1.50 for Corinium CC/Swindon RC members and £2.50 for visitors.

3. All races unless otherwise specified will be started from Bradstone Sports Pavilion (Fridays Ham Lane). Try to arrive 30 minutes beforehand as you'll need to sign in and get to the start line.

4. If light conditions are poor, the timekeeper reserves the right to restrict the number of riders for safety reasons.

5. Remember, safety first... Both Swindon Road Club and Corinium CC heavily reccomend the use of appropriate safety approved headgear. Also, take great care when negotiating the traffic islands on the U48 course.

6. Corinium CC members only - In order to ensure the smooth running of all events you are expected to involve yourself in assisting with at least two races per year. Either as start timekeeper, finish timekeeper, finish timekeepers assistant or pusher off.

7. You must have signed in and have read the road risk assessment before being allowed to ride.

We will be publishing the full seasons events below as well as the results as soon as possible.
